“Gun control is not the answer. I’m all for the NRA and what they stand for. There should be access to mental health evaluation before anyone should be able to purchase a firearm. There is no quick fix for gun control. It’s about self-policing; the police are under staffed to begin with.”

Nicole Tobor

Women and Gender Studies

“More needs to be done with mental health issues; the solutions are more political than practical.”

Kieran R. Leon-Horton

Media Communication

“ I feel like taking guns off the streets wouldn’t prevent anything. We need stronger laws on gun control. I recently lost a cousin from a shooting here in Oakland.”

Daniel Harbin

Music

“I don’t touch them and don’t like them and they don’t help anyone. I love the fact that Obama is proposing stricter laws. Politicians need to do something and we need to get guns out of the picture.”

Thurman Ervin

Business Accounting

“The gun laws are to loose and handguns are doing a lot of damage. We need tougher laws and policies. Under-age children should not have access to guns. I do not like guns at all.”

Markeet’a Parker

Sociology

“People should be more aware of guns. People need to know how to use a gun and I do not like guns. Movies are a huge influence on the actions of people using guns; they should make more movies about world peace.”
