Bay Valley Conference champions

The Laney College baseball team finally did it. The Eagles won a conference championship for the first time in 15 years during the last week in April and now it's on to the Northern California Regionals.   Full story

Eagles on the brink of conference title

Winning streak at 11; two games ahead in BVC

Sophomore pitcher Jim Ploeger threw eight scoreless innings to lead the Laney College baseball team to its 11th straight victory, a 2-0 win over host Contra Costa College on March 17 in San Pablo. The triumph moved the fifth-ranked (in Northern California) Eagles to the brink of their first conference championship since 1997. Full story

The hardest part of being a champion is defending your (2010) championship. The Laney College women's track and field team will have that to do just that this as it enters this track season. Eagles lose to Cosumnes River in overtime thriller - NorCal loss ends sterling 24-7 season

The Laney College women's basketball team lost 66-63 in overtime to the Cosumnes River College Hawks in the first round of the Northern California championship tournament on Feb. 24 in Sacramento.

Eagles move closer to title with three games left

Sonia Aguilar scored 18 points and Dominique Williams-McNac added 11 as the Laney College women's basketball team moved a step closer to winning the Bay Valley Conference championship with a 64-48 victory over Solano College on Feb. 1 at Laney.   The Eagles (19-6, 8-1 BVC) have three games left in the regular season, including home games against Contra Costa on Friday, Feb. 3, and Mendocino College on Feb. 10. New England defensive back Sterling Moore was just 12 years old when Tom Brady led the Patriots to their first Super Bowl victory. Now, 10 yeas later, Moore will play alongside Brady as New England tries for another Super Bowl victory on Feb. 5. Full story
