The Accounting Tutorial Center at the College of Alameda is unique and one of a kind; this valuable and extremely beneficial program has been in existence since the mid--1970s. It is the only Accounting tutorial program in the Peralta District that not only provides services to students at the College of Alameda, but to students at Laney, Merritt, and Berkeley City College as well.

The ATC (Accounting Tutorial Center) located on the 2nd floor of the Library inside the Computer Lab L202A, is under the guidance of College of Alameda business instructors: Leonard Chung, Rochelle Olive, and Michael Wirth.

Wirth, known to his students as Mike, expresses his sentiments: "The College of Alameda is blessed with extremely capable, professional and caring accounting tutors. The success of many of our accounting students is due to their participation in our outstanding Accounting Tutorial Center."

The ATC is currently staffed with 12 tutors who are past and current Accounting/ Business students who benefited from this remarkable service and are here to offer support to students taking Business 1A -- Financial Accounting; Business 1B -- Managerial Accounting; and Business 20 -- General Accounting.

Andrew Roby is one of those who benefited from the tutorial services and now works as a tutor.

Roby reflects on his positive experience: "The tutoring center was very instrumental in helping me fully understand accounting concepts and gave me access to the textbook and solution manuals for homework assignments.

"It provided an outlet for me to utilize other resources in addition to the teachers and allowed me to create a support system," added Roby.

Olive, supervising instructor, and Su Hua Cai, program coordinator, are pleased to announce a new service to students this semester: Weekend On-Line Tutoring. According to Cai, this accommodation will provide additional help to students who have time restraints or any student who needs further assistance.

I'm disappointed that your article on-line does not give the hours for the COA Tutorial Center, although the newpaper does give the hours.

I'm disappointed that Laney Tower on-line does not give the hours of the COA Accounting Tutorial Center, yet the newpaper does.
