- Dellums to speak at graduation
Former congressman Ron Dellums will speak on "Defining Leadership and Excellence" at the Laney College graduation from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the City Center Oakland Marriott, West Hall. The public is invited to attend.
- Tutorial Center moves
The Tutorial & Academic Support Center has moved to F 201. Transfer Center study groups (except the Athlete's study group) have also moved to F 201. The Tutorial Center is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Black by popular demand: The art of Robert Colescott
The exhibit will run through Friday, May 19. Gallery hours for viewing are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Latino College Day
The Transfer Center is hosting a question and answer session on from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on, Monday, May 20, the 'Dia del Lation en el Colegio/Universidad.' Come prepared to ask questions regarding vocational programs, transferring, financial aid and housing. For more Transfer Information, go to http://laney.peralta.edu/transfer.

You're invited! Where? To the Good News Magazine publication party. There will be readings, art displays, refreshments and one free magazine for each attendee. Additional copies can be purchased for $12. Noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 in T450.
- 'CivicMatters'
A recent study revealed that the number of voters between 18 and 35 years of age eligible to vote is on the decline. 'CivicMatters' plans to change this statistic on June 6 and again on November 7. Poll workers for "CivicMatters" are needed and will be paid a stipend. So, if you have a few hours to spare, your community needs you! For more information about "CivicsMatters," call (510) 450-1844.
- Film screening: '500 Years Later'
The Merritt College Department of African American Studies and the Associated Students of Merritt College present a film screening of the award winning film directed by Owen Alik Shahadah.'500 Years Later' at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at the Grand Lake Theater. There will also be a post-feature discussion with the film's screenwriter, Molefi Asante Jr. Tickets are $15, $10 for students. The Laney College community is invited to a concert with Shelley Doty, Rachel Efron and Irina Rivkin in celebration of the Earth and Nancy Darcey's legacy. This free concert is the last of the ASLC and Club Harmony Wednesday Music Series in memory of Nancy Darcey, learning disability specialist. Thanks for your patronage. 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at the Laney College Student Center.
