Ifind myself asking friends, classmates these days "so, what did you do during the summer, anything exciting?" and I find myself getting responses like "nothing, really" and I think to myself, why?

Like, what makes us think that everyone should be out in an exotic location, visiting relatives, sunbathing, passed out in Cancun during the summer break?

I think our culture expects us to take these exciting vacations, explore new lands, but whatever happened to the kind of vacations where you just sit on your ass all day and save-up energy for the new semester.

School can get kind of harsh, these days. I have been spending most of my time at bookstores, counselor's offices, in writing essays, and dealing with boring lectures from boring people.

I wish I could go back to the summer and rest some more, instead of worrying about how and where I could get the most fun.

I have more…fun hearing how people kept themselves entertained here in the bay this summer. And you know, there are so many things to do out here, you really wouldn't had to traveled long to get a kick out of your summer.

Just this past weekend I went with my friend Chichi to the Art and Soul festival here in Oakland, and there have been so many concerts here in the past months, it's like, why ravel far.

So for those, who did not go out to an extravagant vacation, instead, just stayed out here in the east bay, I say, you guys did well, because you now have all the energy to overcome, and succeed this summer, whatever.
