Welcome to the new section of the Laney Tower!
Being a food person (snob), and a college student, I am always looking for good, cheap eats. Considering that fact, I also wanted to share my findings with fellow students, helping you, as well as the business owners.
I chose Acapulco in Alameda because it has been independently owned and operated since 1953 by the Quintero Family, the food is good, cheap, and plentiful.
Most of the items on the menu are under $10, and the plates are huge. In fact, I could only eat half of the Chile Colorado plate that I ordered. That means dinner also- lunch and dinner for just under $10.
Chips and salsa are served to your table. They actually fry their own tortilla chips, not to mention they make all of their food in house, excluding only tortillas and tamales.
The décor is decent, consisting of dark wood, white walls, and deep red leather seats in the booths. There are a variety of paintings, some stained glass, and a family portrait.
Noise level is moderate, changing depending on who the guests are, and what time you decide to go. There is also light music playing in the background, just barely audible.
The serving staff was friendly and quick, making sure guests have what they need, and that they are happy.
I went with another person, and all together we spent $19.90, with leftovers for the both of us.
I recommend checking this restaurant out. It's decent eats and a decent price, and with this recession looming over everyone's heads, it's nice to be able to have lunch and dinner, all on the same bill.
Acapulco Restaurant is located at 2104 Lincoln Ave, in Alameda, their phone number is (510) 523-4935.
