The Tony Award-winning San Francisco Mine Troupe is set to hit the Laney Theater stage for a free showing of their latest production, "Red State." Director Michael Gene Sullivan's political, musical comedy centers on the small town of Bluebird, Kans., where the crucial, tie-breaking votes for the presidential election have yet to be sent in. Sullivan, along with composer and lyricist Pat Moran promise "Red State" to be a jovial satire referencing nationwide dilemmas through the magnification of a small American town at election time as it deals with economic issues, mother nature and internal, political plights. The show starts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 with pre-show music at 6:30 p.m. There will be another show on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Lakside Park at Lake Merritt.
