I strongly suggest that anyone interested in this topic get a copy of a stunning 2 hour documentary called: Maafa21 . The producers of Maafa21 went directly to the source, researching the information from the papers of Margaret Sanger , Planned Parenthood, their board, and their eugenic supporters. It was clear to me that most people at Laney support choice and access to abortion. Of the 6 people asked about it in the tower all were pro choice. I was glad to see most people were indifferent to, or challenged the anti choice protesters.

Reginald, I was perplexed with your report of prolifer's visit to your campus. You made some statements that have no basis in truth in the desire to be fair or balanced.

First, you did not report that there were four men and four woman from the prolife group on campus, but instead quoted the false statement from the prochoicers about who was present. Did you omit the truth to give some sexist slant to your report?

Secondly, you stated that Don Blythe "called in reinforcments" when spit on by a prochoicer. Where were you to see this incident? The truth is that the incident was captured on video when the prolifers where finishing up their day on the campus and "called" the campus police to arrest the troublemaker who assaulted two people having a civil dialogue. Why did you not get this right?

Thirdly, you gave the impression of racism by the prolifers, but failed to identify Walter Hoye and his wife as African Americans as the ones quoted concerning abortion and its attack on Blacks. This comes across as an attempt to smokescreen the truth about the two days of activity by the prolifers.

If these missteps in journalism were intentional, then you will have no problem finding a job with one of our many failing newspapers, but if you believe in integrity, then you will get it right no matter what your personal beliefs.

You get a "C-" for your effort on this one.

The entire time I was on the quad, I did not see any women with your group. Regarding the question posed by the woman in the wheelchaired who asked Jonathan Whueller "Why are the only men in your group?" Mr. Whueller responded, "They're in the library." This was not purposely omitted by me; however, they did not return within the half hour I continued observing your group.

I found out about this "alleged" incident because someone from your group posted it onto Facebook/Twitter (http://twitter.com/AmMissionary/status/10233003762). When I contacted Peralta Police Services, I was informed that a report was NOT made. If Bud and Don were in fact assaulted, a report should've been made. I called Don to verify using the phone number provided on your SOHLNET website, and he stated that he was spat at (not on) and someone took a swing at who I assume to be Bud. However, as it was not confirmed by the Deputy Sheriff, it is heresay; therefore "alleged."

Finally:

If you read the account on TheBlackHour.com that was edited by me, you will see that Hoye was identified. I suspect that when the story was edited to fit in a space for print, that was edited out. I doubt it was intentional.

I worked very diligently to be fair. If you feel I was not, you should take the time to write a Letter to the Editor and plead your own cause.

p.s. AP style book refers to you as "anti-abortion" and not "pro-life," but as such an esteem consumer of journalism, you probably knew that.
