One-year pilot program to start fall 2008

The Peralta Board of Trustees voted unanimously May 20 to fund a one-year pilot program with AC Transit that will subsidize the costs of bus passes for full-time students at its' meeting.
The Peralta Pass will be available to all full-time students enrolled in any of the four Peralta campuses.

No bush "Tropic Thunder" goes deep anyway

OK, "Tropic Thunder" really lays its roast on the altar of Hollywood celebrity actors. Thankfully, no ham is eaten. The movie also points out what's unfortunately wrong with so many attempts at movie comedy. It is scheduled for release Aug. 18.
Sending up the making of "Apocalypse Now" we find the main characters have flawed grasps on their roles on location in Viet Nam.

Elections committee seeks resolution

Despite alleged violations of the Peralta District's election code, a three-week postponement, and recent accusations of "corruption" by one presidential candidate, the Associated Students of Laney College (ASLC) elections took place May 6-7 in the Laney Student Center.

The top three students in College of Alameda's Diesel and Truck Mechanics program have each received a $1,000 Peterson CAT Achievement Award Scholarship. Jose "Alex" Salazar, Thanh "Tommy" Nguyen and Joaquin Santos all have grade point averages of 4.
