Stanford University was once referred to as the "Harvard of the "West." Now with the most NCAA titles in American history and Law and Medical schools on par with the best Ivy League schools, Harvard is fast becoming known as the "Stanford of the East."

Similarly, when a regional theater premiers a play that moves on to New York City, it's cause for delirious celebration.

Tournament experience trumped tournament inexperience on March 11 as the Eagles lost to Ventura College, 70-62, in the first round at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

Joe Johnson, the director of the 2010 movie "The Wolfman" had a vision. His vision was to create a movie so appalling, so inexcusably bad that the prospect of actually becoming a werewolf is less scary than being forced to see the movie itself. The movie opens with Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro) returning home for the first time in years to attend his brother's funeral.

After co-organizing the Oakland rally opposing Proposition 8 in 2008 and attending many more in California and other countries, I have found one thing to be true-people love to hear themselves speak. Most activists care about real injustices but don't visualize clear, achievable goals, nor use media wisely.
Even those who are intimately connected to the conflict are cynical and pessimistic about the outcome.

Faculty, staff and students were greeted Monday morning, March 8, International Women's Day, to strangers on the Laney campus quad, who decorated the quad with posters of aborted fetuses on large 8-foot scaffolds and passed out leaflets against a woman's right to choose.

Editor-I am urging the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) to stand up to the state and let them know that we will not tolerate them taking funding away from transportation. Because of the state action, AC Transit had to cut services and raise the price of the bus pass to $20 for both seniors and the disabled.
